Nancy Weiss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes in the Palmer Community Complex - Lakeville Chapel on Feb. 9, 2026.
Nancy J. (Myers) Weiss, 88, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton.

Nancy was born in South Bend on June 5, 1937, to the late William and Sophia (Brown) Myers. On August 11, 1956, she married Harley Weiss, who preceded her in death in 2021.

Nancy worked for many years as the office manager for Weiss Prestain, where she was known for her friendly telephone voice and pleasant nature. Earlier in life, she also ran a beauty shop out of her home, combining her love of style with her enjoyment in connecting with people.

Nancy was blessed with four sons: Chris (Lisa) Weiss, Matt (Rita) Weiss, Mike (Amy) Weiss, and Greg (Michele) Weiss; 11 grandchildren-Jovianna Weiss, Ross Gilman, Hunter Weiss, Trevor (Hannah) Weiss, Benjamin Weiss, Samuel (Page) Weiss, Gabriel (Cynthia Galvez) Weiss, Patricia (Kevin) Weiss, Elaina (Ashwin) Weiss, Karena (Kameron) Flynn, and Justina Weiss-and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She was deeply devoted to her sons and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.

Nancy is also survived by her sister, Judy (Russell) Annis; her beloved nephews and their families; her half-siblings, Kathy, Jackie, and William (Patty) Myers; and many dear cousins.

Nancy had a lifelong love of horses and especially enjoyed the years when her sons were involved in 4-H, a time filled with camping, tight friendships, and treasured memories. With four boys, she was expert at helping the boys select girlfriends. She valued family traditions, including annual outings with her sister and cousins, and she took great joy in hosting Christmas at her home filling special stockings for each family member.

She also enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Nancy loved playing the card game Golf and doing puzzles. She liked to sew, attend auctions and craft shows. She especially looked forward to visiting the Covered Bridge Festival whenever she could. Nancy loved and was loved by many. She was an honorary member of the Foster Family, attending all the holiday gatherings and even the family reunions for decades.

Florida was Nancy's happy place. She lived in Cudjoe Key for several years of her retirement. An evening cruise on the Grady was a perfect night, although her sons thought she really didn't step up when it came time to clean fish. She explored most of the 50 states and several other countries throughout her life, with Australia as her favorite destination. She loved "tagging along" with her special cousins Gene and Jackie on many trips from cruises to mountain villas. At home, she was surrounded by a close-knit group of "State Road 4" neighbors who became dear friends over the years, including John, Celeste, Jack, and Marka, whose companionship and support meant so much to her.

As Nancy's health gradually declined over the last six years, Nancy was lovingly cared for at home-exactly where she wished to be, through the devoted efforts, energy, and countless hours given by her sons and daughter-in-law to keep her surrounded by familiarity, dignity, and quiet comfort (except, of course, when her precious great grandchildren visited-which she delighted in).

The family extends heartfelt thanks to caregivers Wendy and Julie who were unwaveringly compassionate and professional, gentle and patient. Nancy spent the last few months of her life at Millers Merry Manor in Walkerton, where she was kept comfortable by many kind staff members.

Memorial visitation for Nancy will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Palmer Funeral Home inside the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan St., Lakeville. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be interred in a private ceremony at a later date at Porter Rae Cemetery on the grounds of Potato Creek State Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's name to iCaleb & Co., serving pediatric cancer patients in northern Indiana, 5335 E. 700 N., Hamlet, IN 46532 www.icalebandco.org .
