Nancy J. Wilson Obituary
Nancy Jean Wilson passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 74.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church,
Leawood Campus, with a reception to follow at the church café. Guests are invited to
wear purple in honor of Nancy's life and legacy. https://cckc.church/leawood/
Born on January 3, 1951, Nancy was the eldest of four children to farming parents on
the outskirts of Eureka, KS. She learned the value of hard work early in life and carried
that spirit with her until her final days.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Wilson; her daughters and sons-
in-law, Stephanie and Jim Browning, and Suzanne and Tom Pretti Jr.; six
grandchildren-James, Nicole, Ryan, Jeremiah, Jonathan, and Jadon; three siblings;
Beverly Connell (John), Ken Nichols (Beth Dull), and Donna Patton; and several
beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and
Vera Nichols.
Nancy grew up in southeast Kansas, just outside the small town of Eureka. She spent
much of her youth working on her father's farm, milking cows and tending to chores.
She graduated from Eureka High School in 1969 and married her high school
sweetheart, Kenneth, in 1971, just two weeks shy of what would have been their 54th
anniversary.
Nancy worked in banking for several years, first in Cimarron and Manhattan, Kansas,
then in Garden City, Kansas. In 1987, the family moved to Overland Park, KS, where
she began a successful real estate career. For over 35 years, Nancy was a dedicated
and highly regarded realtor, often receiving recognition and awards for her work. Her
care for clients set her apart, she always went the extra mile to prioritize their needs.
Nancy continued serving clients with excellence up until her passing.
Above all, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Kenneth
frequently traveled to be present for their grandchildren's birthdays, plays, sporting
events, and other special moments. She planned unforgettable family adventures,
lovingly prepared everyone's favorite meals, and offered unwavering support in all their
endeavors.
Nancy was widely known for her deep love of all things K-State and was often
considered their biggest fan.
She was also a passionate gardener and maintained a beautiful garden that brought joy
to neighbors and passersby.

If it wasn´t for Nancy, our family would not have moved into the Highlands. We were moving from California and knew nothing about the area. When we looked at houses in the Highlands, Nancy gave us a directory of all the families that had already moved in, with a listing of the children´s names and ages. When we asked where she lived, she said right down the hill. We were sold! Nancy has been a great friend ever since. We will truly miss her.

Nancy was a class act through and through. Early in my Real Estate career she was gracious, kind, not a showy lady at all!
She told me don't sweat the small stuff!

We will miss Nancy so much. She sold several of our homes and was so encouraging to me once I began by real estate career in 2016. Dave and I are so grateful for the time we had to know and love Nancy. She was an incredible woman who truly demonstrated so much calmness in every situation. I will deeply miss her and try hard to be as good as she was.

I am so saddened to learn of Nancy's passing. Nancy was the sweetest, most kind, helpful and consumate professional realtor to work with and such a compliment to the industry. Working on a transaction with Nancy was a constant reminder of why you loved being a realtor. She never forgot your name, interests, details about your family, etc., even when years had passed since your last meeting. It was always special to learn news of her family whom she was so proud of. My deepest condolences to all who will miss her so.

I met Nancy early on in my new homes career. Nancy was a terrific new homes "Community Manager" who was at the time managing The Highlands of Leawood. I remember her as a person who hustled and was a stickler for the details. She was very friendly to me and to this day, over 30 years later, I remember her warm smile. I greatly admired Nancy.
To Nancy's family and friends, God Bless you.. You are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Nancy. My condolences to her family. I met Nancy probably 30 years ago. If you ever did a transaction with her you would never forget her. She was one of the kindest person you would ever meet. Nancy and I worked on 3 different sales and hands down the most enjoyable person to work with. She will be missed.
