Naomi Elizabeth (Shaw) Miller, 99, of Urbana, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 3:01 p.m. at The Waters of Hartford City. She was born November 30, 1925, in Huntington, Indiana, to Glen and Nora Shaw. On December 5, 1943, she married Lee Miller in Warren.
A proud member of the Jefferson Center High School Class of 1943, Naomi was recognized for her writing and performances in school plays. During World War II, she took a factory job in support of the war effort. But even as a girl, she knew her calling was farming. She loved working alongside her father and counted herself blessed to farm side by side with her husband for nearly six decades.
Naomi gardened and provided food for her family until she was 97, and her letters kept them connected across the miles. A devoted member of Urbana Yoke Parish, she lived her faith through action with honesty, forgiveness, fairness, and unconditional love.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolee Snyder of Hartford City, Indiana, and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, in 2006, and her son, Gene Miller of Urbana, in 2021, as well as all seven of her siblings.
A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family at Grandstaff-Hentgen and burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, Indiana.
Preferred memorial is Urbana Yoke Parish.
