Naomi C. Root, age 94, of Springville, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Naomi was born on March 14, 1931, in Laceyville, PA. She was the daughter of the late Wilmot (d. 1972) and Florance Brotzman Chamberlain (d. 1973).
Growing up in the Laceyville area, Naomi would graduate from the Laceyville High School with the class of 1948. She was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church and later with the Springville United Methodist Church.
Naomi was employed in the Advertising Department with Farmer’s Friend Newspaper for many years. She was also a member of the Silvara Ladies Aid.
Throughout her life, Naomi would touch the lives of many and loved helping her children by watching her grandchildren and giving them a guiding hand. She also loved to tend to her horses.
Naomi is survived by her children, Kathryn McGinnis of Springville, PA; Naomi Elizabeth Salsman (Norm) of New Bern, NC; and John Decker (Jane) of Nicholson, PA; her 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, and Floyd R. Root (d. August 18, 2011); her son, Jason Root (d. March 28, 2007) her daughters, Wilma Rimkus, (d. March 19, 2023) and infant Lucinda Christne Decker; (d. 1950); her first husband, William A. Decker, (d. October 23, 20014); and her siblings Christine, Madeline, and Ann.
A Funeral Service for Naomi will be held will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Reverend Perry Munro of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey St. Cemetery in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday morning, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Naomi’s name to the Silvara Ladies Aid, c/o Cindy Hitchcock, 3573 SR 3003, Laceyville, PA 18623.
