Naomi Mae Tunis, 70, of
Texas City, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025.
She was born on November 22, 1954, in
Texas City, Texas, to Alice A. Heiman (Sessions). Naomi was raised by her adoptive father, Edgar Sessions, and was one of four siblings who remained closely connected throughout her life.
Naomi spent over ten years as a Reset Sales Manager at Crossmark, where her hard work and caring nature left a lasting impression. She was family-oriented, joyful, strong, and always ready to help those around her. Her heart was as big as her laugh - and she made sure her home, and the lives of those in it, were always full of love.
She married Jerry David Tunis on March 27, 1986, and together they shared thirty-five wonderful years of marriage - a love marked by laughter, resilience, and unwavering devotion. They traveled during the early years of their marriage, eventually returning to Texas City, where they lived out the rest of their days together.
Naomi is preceded in death by her mother Alice A. Heiman (Sessions), her adoptive father Edgar Sessions, her beloved husband Jerry D. Tunis, her former husband Ralph Ray Snarr Sr., and her son Ralph Ray Snarr Jr.
She is survived by her loving children: Renee Lowry and husband Johnny Parker, Robert Snarr and wife Amy Snarr. She was "Nana" to five grandchildren - Veronica Snarr, Ralph Snarr, Taylor Claussen, Stephen Lowry, and Amber Snarr - and six great-grandchildren.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Ernest Bivens, Ginny Hobbs and husband Richard Hobbs, and Pansy Arriola and husband Bobby Arriola.
Naomi had a deep love for arts and crafts. She especially loved painting and decorating - no holiday passed without her yard being dressed up in joy, often with handmade decorations that brought her family together (willingly or not!). She collected cherished teddies, adored her pets, loved bowling and could take all your money in poker. Her Christian faith guided her with quiet strength.
Naomi will be cremated per her wishes. She will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, and the unconditional love she gave to her family - and for always insisting on a group photo, even if her phone or camera refused to cooperate.
She will Be Deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Nana's Legacy
At every gathering, Naomi would call out for photos - of the kids, the grandkids, the friends, the pets - everyone had to be in it. And without fail, there was always a problem with the camera. We'd laugh, she'd fuss, and eventually we'd get that perfect, imperfect shot.
That's who Nana was. She captured us.
Not just in photos - in holidays we'll never forget, in the crafts she made by hand, in the unconditional love she gave.
She didn't need perfection. She needed us together. And we'll carry that spirit with us always.
With Love and Gratitude
The family of Naomi Mae Tunis would like to thank everyone for attending today.
She would have been absolutely overjoyed to see everyone gathered together - laughing, hugging, telling stories, and celebrating. There was nothing she loved more than a good get-together. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of hers.
"Well done, good and faithful servant Enter into the joy of your Lord."– Matthew 25:23
"Love Like Hers"
We do not lose the ones we love,
They simply go before-
Their footsteps echo in our hearts,
Their voice forevermore.
In quiet moments, they return,
A thought, a laugh, a glance-
And just like that, the past is near,
As if by gentle chance.
Naomi's love was deep and true,
A steady, guiding light.
She taught us all that kindness lives
In simple acts done right.
She filled our days with warmth and care,
With holidays and grace.
She left her joy in every home,
In every heart, a place.
So let us cherish while we can,
The moments still ahead.
Hold close the hands of those we love,
And every word unsaid.
For life is but a fragile thread,
That time too soon may sever-
But love like hers will linger on,
And live in us forever.
