Napoleon Batey, Jr. was born December 29, 1944, to the late Napoleon (Tuck) Batey, Sr. and Josephine Batey, in Smyrna, TN. He departed this life on September 5, 2024, in Murfreesboro, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Horace Batey and Brenda Batey Smith. 

Napoleon was educated in the Rutherford County school system. He graduated in 1963 from Holloway High School in Murfreesboro TN. 

He served in the U.S. Army and spent some time in Danang, Vietnam. He was employed at the Lane Company in Smyrna for 30 years and with Hoover Inc. Crushed Stone. 

At an early age, he was converted and united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Smyrna TN. He was a true Christian and faithful member for several years. He helped form the gospel group “Sons of Heaven” and was very active for several years traveling to different cities and states to perform. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Sherri Michelle Batey (Calvin Hunt) and Terri Rochelle Bryson (Joe Bryson) of Murfreesboro, TN; Lonnie Turner; three sisters, Mary Ann Williams, Candace Martin (Ronnie Martin), of Smyrna, Tn, Valerie Abrams (Cleon Abrams) of Ypsilanti, Michigan, 1 brother, John Larry Batey (Cleo Batey). six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
