HITCHCOCK - Mr. Narciso Rodriguez Davila passed from this life Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024, in Hitchcock.
Born March 18, 1929, in San Marcos, Texas, Mr. Davila was a resident of Hitchcock for over 50 years, previously of Galveston. Narciso proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a grain inspector supervisor with the Federal Grain Inspection Service for over 20 years. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Narciso found great joy in his vegetable garden and was meticulous in his care for the yard, he took pride in transforming the outdoor space into a haven of beauty and tranquility and was a true handyman, finding joy in the art of fixing things. Beyond his gardening and fixing endeavors, Narciso kindness, generosity, and love for simplicity and beauty enriched the lives of those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Telesfora (Rodriguez) Davila; wife, Soledad (Ayala) Davila; sisters, Petra Hernandez, Elena Castillo, Hermalinda Ayala; brothers, Jorge Davila, Justino Davila, Miguel Davila; son-in-law, Thomas Giles.
Survivors include daughters, Norma Carpenter and husband, Terry of Santa Fe, Mary Lourdes Giles of Hitchcock; grandchildren, Autumn Jimenez and husband, Anthony, Erin Carpenter, John Giles, Emily Giles; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Jimenez, Kara Jimenez, Derrick Jimenez, Madilyn Worthey.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Deacon Michael Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Abel Aguilera, George Ayala, Mike Ayala, Terry Carpenter, John Giles, Derrick Jimenez. Honorary bearers will be Marc Ayala, Jesus Davila, Jose Davila and Anthony Jimenez.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. recited by Mr. Don LeCompte.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Narciso's name to American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718 or Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 A.C. Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
