Natalino "Nat" Roberto Bacchetti
December 24, 1935 –January 26, 2026
Natalino "Nat" Roberto Bacchetti passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at
the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 24, 1935,
in
Ferndale, California, to Cristoforo and Domenica Pirlo Bacchetti.
His parents immigrated from Ono Degno, Italy, to start a dairy farm on California's
North Coast in the 1920's. They relocated to Tracy in 1940, where their dairy farm
evolved into a diversified farming business spanning four generations.
Nat led a simple life, learning the value of hard work and a strong work ethic in
his youth. While attending elementary school, he and his sister, Angelina, began
their days bottle-feeding calves before school and spent afternoons milking cows
and other farm chores.
A member of the Tracy Joint Union High School class of 1954, Nat was actively
involved in the Tracy High Future Farmers of America (FFA) and later, Young Farmers.
Following high school, he enlisted in the National Guard as a Specialist with the 118th
Ordnance and joined his father as a partner in the family dairy and farming operation.
Nat married the love of his life, Marie Patello, on June 11, 1960. They built their
dream home in rural Tracy, where their life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
Together, they were blessed with three children: Roseann, Nathan, and Diana. After
a long day's work on the ranch, Nat always looked forward to coming home to his
supportive wife and a delicious home-cooked meal. Last year, Nat and Marie celebrated
65 years of marriage, a milestone reflecting a lifetime of devotion to one another.
During his lifetime, Nat witnessed the evolution of farming, from horse-drawn
equipment to modern GPS-guided tractors. He remained actively involved in farming
until the age of 90, a privilege for which he was deeply grateful. Nat proudly farmed
alongside his son, Nathan, establishing the NB Farms Hay and Cattle Partnership in
1987, and served as a devoted mentor to his grandsons, Matt and Stephen Miller,
from their early years.
Nat's life was defined by his deep devotion to his faith, family, agriculture, and
community. He demonstrated unwavering commitment to those he loved and was
known for the warmth and kindness reflected in both his smile and his interactions
with others. Beyond his busy life on the farm, Nat enjoyed time with his wife and
family at the beach, as well as hunting, fishing, handball, tennis, racquetball,
barbequing, cattle roundups, and family gatherings.
During his children's years at St. Bernard's School,
he was actively involved in many fundraising
events including barbecuing and manning the
Little Reno Booth with Marie at the Fall Festival. He
was also a member of the St. Bernard's Dad's Club.
Nat proudly supported his children's, then later, his
grandchildren's, 4-H and FFA projects.
Nat was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard's
Parish, a former volunteer firefighter with the Tracy
Rural Fire Department and served for over 30 years on the Pescadero Reclamation
District 2058 Board of Directors and the South Delta Water Agency.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cristoforo and Domenica Bacchetti; in-laws,
Leonard and Rose Navarra Patello; sister, Angelina Bacchetti Long and her
husband, Henry Long; nieces, Kathleen and Laureen Long.
Nat is survived by his wife, Marie Patello Bacchetti; children, Roseann Bacchetti Miller
(Craig), Nathan Bacchetti (Christy), and Diana Bacchetti Dunn; grandchildren, Matthew
and Stephen Miller, Alexis Dunn Rast (Noah), Christopher Dunn, Juliette Bacchetti; great
grandson, Andrew James Rast; sister-in-law, Genarose Imhof, and her husband, Gary;
brother-in-law, Carl "Butch" Patello; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family extends sincere appreciation to Nat's care team throughout the
years: Dr. G. Grewal, Dr. A. Huatuco, Dr. S. Hubli and Premier Care Physicians,
Albert & Armida Fajardo and Great Valley Home Health, Josie Carranza, and Vasa,
his compassionate caregiver.
