Nathan Dean Carpenter, 72, passed away peacefully October 13, 2025.
He was born January 28, 1953, to Dean & Lita Carpenter, the oldest of 6. His childhood was spent in Monteview, Idaho where he learned the value of hard work and grew his
love for farming. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1971 and later attended Wyoming Technical Institute receiving a diploma as automotive technician.
Nate met Crystal Hoggan in the spring of 1977, and they were married on June 16 of that year. Together they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and shared purpose. Five
children were born of their union: Cody, Dana, Kevin, Luke, and Abby. Two of their daughters, Cody and Abby, tragically passed away from SIDS within two months of their
birth - a loss Nate and Crystal bore with quiet strength and enduring faith.
Nate was a proud union member dedicating over 40 years of service. He made lifelong friends on the job site and carpools throughout the years. He also served his country in
the United States Army, stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam war. Nate was the very definition of a hard worker. Over the years, he worked countless construction jobs, raised Holstein cattle, and eventually added a second full-time job in growing alfalfa, oats, barley, and wheat - all while supporting and providing for his family. He approached every task with determination and grit, always leading by example.
Outside of work, Nate cherished time with his family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing pinochle and traveling with friends. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and took every opportunity to show them affection, share stories, and build lasting memories.
Nathan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Crystal; daughters Cody and Abby; his parents, Dean and Lita Carpenter; and his brothers Harley and Scott.
He is survived by his children: Dana (Mike) Howard of Star, ID, Kevin (McKell) Carpenter Hamer, ID and Luke (Breanna) Carpenter of Iona ID; his siblings: Ed (Chris) Carpenter of Blackfoot, ID, Marie Carpenter (Harley) Hamer, ID, Kim Carpenter of Blackfoot ID, Barbara Carpenter (Scott) of Twin Falls, ID and Shawna (Casey) Bare or Terreton ID; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Nathan will be remembered not only for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, deep devotion to his family but also for his mischievous zest for life. Always ready with a grin
and a song, he could often be heard singing "Don't Worry, Be Happy" - a simple reminder of the joy he carried and shared with those around him. His life was a testament to love, sacrifice, and integrity - and his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Moore Community Center, 3353 W. 3155 N., Moore, ID. A viewing will be held for one hour prior to the service at the center. Interment will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with military rites by the West Jefferson VFW post. Arrangements are under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the excellent care provided from the incredible staff at Morning Star Senior Living and Oakstone Hospice. Thank you.
