Nathalie Burns Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2025.
Nathalie Burns, 88 of Webster City, IA died at her home on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, November 9, at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com), in Webster City. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, on Monday, November 10, at Williams Cemetery, in Williams, Iowa.

Nathalie was born on February 21, 1937, in Williams, Iowa, to Joseph and Daisy (Norem) Hoversten. She graduated from Popejoy School in 1954. On September 2, 1961, she married Bob Burns in Dows, Iowa. Nathalie worked for many years as a bank clerk before opening and operating a professional photography studio in Nebraska City, with Bob. After 20 years they moved to LaMars, where she continued working in professional photography until she retired and moved to Webster City in 2009.

From a young age, Nathalie enjoyed hunting with her brother, earning the nickname "Annie Oakley" for her skill as a marksman. She also loved spending time outdoors fishing, as well as bowling and participating in league play. An avid golfer, she achieved hole-in-one shots at courses in both Hamburg, Iowa, and Nebraska City. She enjoyed gardening-both vegetables and flowers-planting trees and was a proud member of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Nathalie's family includes her husband Bob of 64 years; daughter Norma Jean (Corey) Orton, of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren: Andrew (Michelle) Orton, of Olathe, KS and Katie (fiancé Mickey Van Horn) Orton, of Leavenworth, KS; great grandchildren: Oliver and Arthur; two sisters Joan Gaston of Colfax, IA and Pam (Mike) Jondal of Webster City, IA; sister in law Claudia Hoversten of Anchorage, AK. She was preceded in death by her parents; stillborn son Robert David; and siblings Melvin, Lois, Alvina, and Kenny.
