NATHAN RAY ANDERSON
March 13,1954-December 5, 2024
On Thursday, December 5, 2024 at approximately 9:30 pm, the soul of our beloved "Uncle Butch" departed to his eternal resting place with our Lord Jesus Christ. Tuesday he prayed with his sisters and thanked God that he could smile with his visitors even though he was so tired. He said he kept thinking of the one word the Hospice nurse said and that was "Comfort". He just wanted to comfort. Two days later he entered his state of eternal "comfort", safe in the arms of Jesus.
"Uncle Butch" was born on the 13th day of March, 1954 to the union of Norman and Agnes Anderson. Both of whom preceded him in death, along with his wife, Sheila Anderson; two eldest brothers, Joseph and Larry Gray; his brother-in-law that was like a brother, William Michael Lanier, Sr., son-in-law Greg Harper, son, Kyahn White, and nephew William Michael Lanier, Jr.
At the young age of 12 his mother passed and he moved to Salisbury, Md to live under the supervision of his cousins Johnnie and Ina Mae Hall. Upon graduation from the public schools of Salisbury, he volunteered to serve his country in the U. S Marines. While stationed in Quantico, Va., he met and married his first wife, Anniatha Shepard and to this union were added Rosalie Denise and Kennieth Ray.
Upon his return to Tampa he worked as a transporter at TGH; Hillsboro Printing, St. John Cathedral and Sears Service Dept. He was well known for his photography work, which was his real passion. He met and married his wife, Sheila Sims and they became members of St. John Cathedral, where he served until his passing.
"Uncle Butch" really fought a good fight. He battled Cancer as he would any enemy. He leaves to cherish fond memories a loving and deeply devoted daughter, Rosalie Denise Harper; just as loving and devoted son, Kennieth (Kianda) Anderson; Eight wonderful grandchildren, Kennieth Jr., Avy, Alex, Brandon, Bryan, Jiana, and Lacy (Casey) ; Two great grandchildren, Casey, Jr. and Micah Anderson; a dear Mother-in-law, Delores Sims; Two loving older sisters, Helen White and Shirley G. Lanier; Five sisters-in-law, Iola Gray, Deana Gray, Elouise Dupree, Gloria Williams, and Nancy Johnson; Four brothers-in-law, Wayne F. Sims (Jerrell Ann) of Atlanta, GA; Barry Sims (Angie) of Monroe, NC; Ernest Sims, Jr. (Alice) of Tallahassee, FL; and Cecil Sims (Terry) of Edmond, OK; Thirteen nephews including, Micah Lanier, Nicholas Lanier and Larry (Alana) Gray, Jr.,; 12 nieces including, Karen Sims, Deidra Gray-Iles, Sonja (Kelvin) Mayon, Yolunda Michelle Johnson, Alicia (Edron) Herbert & Natalie Johnson.
