Nathan O. Finke, 76, was born on November 28, 1947, in Brenham, Texas to Ollie and Evelyn Finke. In high school, he picked up a tennis racket, and his life was forever altered. He earned a tennis scholarship to Texas A&M University. Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home will direct Graveside Services on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10 A.M. at Restlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Palmer, Clint Palmer, John Kirkpatrick, Frank Griffin, and Doug Peak. Honorary Pallbearers are the Ross Volunteers. Mr. Finke passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, due to complications from diabetes.

He moved to Dallas to begin his career in institutional sales at First National Bank in Dallas; he remained with the bank through several name changes. It was at the bank that he met his beloved wife. Nathan and June shared their lives for 52 years.

Nathan was an avid tennis player, fisherman, and hunter. He was a proud member of the Texas A&M’s Legacy Society, Endowed Century Club, Heritage Society, Letterman’s Association (Lifetime Member), and the Association of Former Students. Through the years Nathan and his wife established a 12th Man Scholarship, an Endowed Ring Scholarship, an Endowed Corp 21 Scholarship, and a President’s Endowed Scholarship. He was most proud to be associated with the Veterans Ring Scholarship Program. This program allowed him to give back to the school he loved so much while thanking the recipients for their military service.

He and his wife also endowed scholarships at Texas A&M- Commerce including in the School of Nursing, where they serve on the Advisory Board. He was also responsible for establishing a Finance Lab at A&M Commerce. Another organization Nathan supported was the Food Pantry on the A&M Commerce campus.

Nathan is survived by his loving wife, brothers-in-law Bob Kirkpatrick (Nancy) and Seba Kirkpatrick (Vicki), and sister-in-law Ruth Palmer, and Ann Wyatt (Ronnie). Also surviving are eight much-loved nieces/nephews and their spouses along with 19 great-great nieces/nephews.

Nathan Finke was preceded in death by nephew Bryan Palmer and great-nephew Sam Kopal.
