I was just watching TV today and saw an old cash register and thought of your dad, Nate. I googled him and was sad to learn he and your mom have passed.
He gave me a job in 1986 when I was just married and moved to the cities. I was scared to death because I wasn't really very good at counting back money and I would be working on this very ornate old cash register.
Your dad was so patient with me. I was 20 and from Duluth. I worked there for three months then we moved to CA. We lived there one year, but missed Minnesota. When we were thinking of moving back I called your dad asking if there was a chance to have my job back. He told me I had never been off and that was with both the cash register for the pharmacy & the check cashing one. I did get my job back. I really enjoyed your parents.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My brothers and I grew up on Alabama Ave, around the corner from your Dad's drugstore. We spent many hours in the 1960's sitting at the counter enjoying cold phosphate drinks and snacks. Our Mom used to work part time at the drugstore and always spoke highly of Nate. He was always nice to everyone that came into the store and took the time to talk to us. Once again, I am sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The last time I saw your dad was when my parents were visiting Minneapolis and we were at the Lincoln Del (of course). We ran into your parents and our fathers had quite a visit, sharing Hebrew school memories.
I always looked forward to going to your house because your parents were so friendly. You were all great, "around the corner" neighbors and I have wonderful memories of you, especially during my high school days.

Forgive me. . . I thought I signed this yesterday - must've missed a button . . .what I said was that I have been thinking about your dad and the drug store - just drove by it the other day. Brookside Drugstore is where I had my very first real job - about 1965, I think - $.90/hour. We wore white starchy uniforms that didn't fit- had to be held up with a belt. I worked in the fountain area - took orders, cooked the food (not very well), served it, and washed the dishes - all under the helpful, watchful eye of your dad. One day after cleaning the French fry cooker, I slipped and fell in the grease and clattered VERY loudly against the metal cabinets. Your dad rushed to my side - the cute boys in the booth just grinned. My family stopped at the drugstore every Sunday for stuff we needed, and we always got our school supplies there. I am quite sure Nate Goldstone had a very happy, productive, and satisfying life. I send you love and sympathy at this time.

I was so shocked and saddened to read about your Dad's passing in the Star Tribune this morning. In my mind's eye, I see him so sweet with an embracing smile, always. In his later years, I adored seeing your facebook pictures with him and your family and grandchild! I will be at the service on Monday. What a great man. What a legacy. Love, Melissa

I was so shocked to open Star Tribune this morning and read about your Dad's passing. All I could see in front of me was his adorable, bright smiling face. The pictures of Nate, you, your family and grandchild are so priceless. What a legacy he has left....I will be there on Monday, for sure. Oh my goodness. I was thinking about Mr. Goldstone just yesterday when I drove past the place where Brookside Drugstore was. That was where I had my very first "real" job - probably around 1965. $.90/hour at the fountain. We had starchy white uniforms to wear - they didn't fit and we had to wear a belt around our waists to hold them up. I took orders, made the food, served it, and washed the dishes - all under his watchful, supportive supervision. My family would stop at the drugstore every single Sunday for something. We would always get our school supplies there. So many memories surrounding that little store and Nate Goldstone. I am certain that his life was a happy one surrounded by his family. Sending you all good wishes, love, and sympathy.

I am thinking of you both this morning as I recall some great memories of your dad, your mom and 27th and Ottawa.
The best memory I have is that your dad ALWAYS had a smile on his face whether we were at the store or your house. Sad that our parents generation are leaving us.
He will be missed.

I remember Nate well, my house was across the street from Brookside Drug. Warm thoughts and prayers to family and friends. Memories are such a gift.
