Nathan Irvin Harris

Mr. Nathan Irvin Harris, 77 of Critz, VA passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Roanoke, VA on September 5, 1948 to the late Willie Irvin Harris and Edith Jones Harris. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Michelle Hale; brother, William Harris; and sister, Sherri Corvin.

Nathan was a graduate of Independence High School, Class of 68' and a United States Navy Veteran. He was a loving, devoted husband of 57 years. He loved his family; his granddaughter, Faith held a special place in his heart. He was an avid farmer and quite the comedian. One of his favorite sayings was "Guinea Jerseys." Nathan was known as "Buggy" to his close family members.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Arnold Harris of the home; son, Nathan Irvin Harris, II (Carrie) of Meadows of Dan, VA; daughter, Scottie Dawn Austin (Jeff) of Wirtz, VA; brother, Grover Harris (Francis) of Speedwell, VA; sister, Alice Devine (Jackie) of Independence, VA; grandchildren, Travis (Marie), Tyler, Trenton (Ashley), Chance (Elise), Faith, Autumn (Jacob), Samantha, Trey, Alex, Kenzie, and Keely ; sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at High Country Services beginning at 3pm with Chuck Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2pm until 3pm. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Independence, VA 24348 with Dwain Burnette officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Grayson Post #7726.
