Celebration of Life
The family will be scattering ashes on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Front Beach Waimanalo (located off Manana and Laumilo Street)
Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Aaron's home, 1724 Kahanu Street, Honolulu. Parking on Kalihi Street or Kalakaua Park.
Nathan Neal Nee, 64, of Waimanalo, Hawai'i passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
Born on August 31, 1958, in Honolulu, T.H. He was the oldest of five children born to MaryAnn Leialoha
Nee.
Nathan was a proud graduate of Kailua High School, class of 1976 and was an active member of the
renowned Kailua Madrigals. After graduation he attended culinary school at Kapi'olani Community
College at McKinley High School where he utilized his education and crafted to become an exceptional
cook in both his professional career and at home. He brought both the old and new generation of
cooking to the table and everyone loved anything he dished out. He was employed by Sodexo as a
cook working at businesses such as; Bankoh, University of Hawai'i, Mid Pacific, St. Francis School, and
other employers such as Olomana Golf Course, Yacht Harbor Towers, and Kengo Restaurant to name
a few. A gift for singing with a beautiful baritone voice, Nathan was a member of the Queen Emma
Hawaiian Civic Club (Choir) which traveled every year to hosting islands or states to compete in choir
competition. Nathan's knowledge for the Hawaiian culture exuberated with his love for hula, he was a
member of Halau Hula O Na Lei Mokihana under the direction of Keoni Martin. Nathan always looked
forward to the holidays with planning family gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas, it was always
festive and fun, surrounded by family and friends and a ton of laughs filled with memories made each
time a gathering was done.
Nathan is survived by his "sister-wives"; Chuney Kamai-Nee, Nani Kamai-Nee, brothers; Aaron (Pua)
Nee, Franklin (Kendra Ann) Hinds Jr., Jonathan Hinds, sister; Charlotte (David) Delano, Chandra (David) Thomas, nephews; Wayland Hinds (Julie Hazel), David Thomas, Aaron "AJ" Nee Jr., Jordan Hinds, Shane Sodetani, nieces; Karissa (Zach) Epstein, Keesha Thomas, Keely Kahula Hinds, Tamra Nee, Malia Nee, Leina
Hinds, Shalei Hinds, and Shazarei Hinds, grand-nephews; Alaka'i Salangsang Ikaikakamana'o
"Ikaika" Kaleikini, Greyson Eubanks, La'akea Epstein, Zander-Bleu Eubanks, Xavier Roufs, Kamuela
Epstein, Kaniala Kakalia, grand-nieces; Hilina'i Salangsang, Pu'uwaialoha Kaleikini, Anuhea Kaleikini,
Taelyn Eubanks, Anela Epstein, Zayla Roufs, Esmerelda Roufs, and Lilinoe Epstein.
On Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., the family will be scattering his ashes at Front Beach,
Waimanalo (located off Manana and Laumilo Street) with a Celebration of Life to follow 2:00 p.m. at
Aaron's home, 1724 Kahanu Street, Honolulu. Parking on Kalihi Street or Kalakaua Park.
The family would like to send their deepest appreciation out to Nathan's Caregiver, Marc Damaso, the
staff at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua, and the staff at Bristol Hospice.
