Nathan Rook Obituary
Nathan "Nate" Michael Rook, 24, of Roaring Branch, PA, passed away
unexpectedly on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Nate was born April 30, 2000, in the
Williamsport Hospital, to his parents Michael and Michele (Crawley) Rook.
Nate was truly a one in a million person. Anyone who knew him could tell
you he had the biggest heart and the kindest soul. As a hard worker, he would help
anyone who asked, no matter what the task and stick up for every underdog he
could. They say dogs have a sense of "knowing" if a person has a good heart and
Nate never met a dog that didn't fall in love with him. He was a dog whisper if you
will. Along with that, children, especially those who felt "different", flocked to him
and knew they were safe around him.
Being an avid outdoorsman since the minute he could walk, he enjoyed
fishing and hunting. He was a proud member of the Deep Hollow Hunting Club in
Roaring Branch where he thrived in the woods. Aside from being outdoors, he also
loved playing Xbox. Over the years, he built lifelong friendships through his
passion for gaming, many of which he had the chance to meet in person. With
friends being said, you couldn't have had a better one. Who had the best sense of
humor. He enjoyed hanging out with his very close circle of friends and once you
connected, even if you hadn't talked in forever, he would love you just as hard.
Not only was Nate a good friend, he was an amazing son, brother, dog dad,
grandson, cousin, nephew, and most of all an uncle. Uncle Hei Hei to be specific. Yes,
like the chicken from Moana, because that described him perfectly. "Nothing going
on up there" as he would say. Being an uncle was one of his favorite things in the world. Another one of his favorite things was his beloved German Shepard, Odin.
They were one in the same, an emotional support dog and an emotional support
human to each other. He loved Odin and Odin loved his dad.
Nathan is survived by his beloved parents, Michael and Michele Rook of
Roaring Branch, sister Logan (Jeremy) Rios of Cogan Station, Maternal
grandparents, Emery "Bud" and Vicky Crawley of Trout Run, Niece and Nephew,
Rowen and Jameson Rios along with many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that
were like family.
He was predeceased by his Paternal grandparents, Richard "Butch" and
Audrey Rook and his most missed first dog, Winchester Marie Rook.
A service to celebrate Nate's life will be held and announced at a later date.
There will be no funeral service or viewing. Burial will be private and at the
family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial
donation in Nathan M. Rook's loving name to a local no-kill animal shelter, in honor of his love for underdogs and actual dogs.
The Pepper Funeral Home in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
