Nathan "Nate" J. Sankey (Nate), of Plover, passed away August 17, 2023, at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, at the age of 49, with his beloved wife by his side.
Nate was born September 18, 1973 in Stevens Point; son of Alice (Wisnefski) Yenter. He grew up in the area, attending local schools and graduating from Stevens Point Area High School's alternative high school in 1992.
Following high school, Nate joined the workforce; working for Springville, Shooters, and McCains. On October 15, 1999, he married his best friend, Reylene Scipior at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Reylene and Nate had a special relationship that one could only hope to find; a once in a lifetime kind of love. Reylene and Nate both expressed before his passing that their lives are now complete with the love God has shown them is possible.
Nate found great peace in the outdoors and spent as much time outside as possible. He and Reylene did everything together; kayaking, biking, hiking, snow shoeing, fishing, and just hanging out and enjoying music. Nate was a die hard fan of music and found expression in music. Some of this favorite music includes Godsmack, Metallica, Megadeath, Audioslave, Korn, Alice in Chains, just to name a few. Nate loved concerts and even has a collection of concert tickets he has attended over the years. Nate was a gentle soul. His kindness and smile will forever live in many hearts.
Nate is lovingly survived by his wife, Reylene; mother, Alice Yenter; a sister, LeeAnne Warner (Rob Wilke) ; and a brother, Chris Sankey. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Dolores (John Haegerl) Scipior; brothers-in-law, Chad and Ryan Scipior; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Nate was preceded in death by his sister, Kerri Warner; brother-in-law, Kevin Scipior; and father-in-law, LaVern Scipior.
For those wishing to express their sympathies, the family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in honor of Nate to assist with medical bills and funeral expenses.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital staff, the Aspirus oncology team, his Primary care location at Aspirus Plover Family practice and the Aspirus Hospice for their exceptional care of not only Nate, but his entire family as well.
A Celebration of Life to honor Nate's memory will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at Memories Banquet Hall - Springville Sports Bar & Grill, 2811 Plover Springs Drive, Plover, WI. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories, with a small lunch to be served.
