Beloved Nathaniel "Nathan" Austin Chavez of Loveland, Colorado passed away on June 24, 2025. Nathaniel was born on August 13, 2000 in Loveland, Colorado. He is the son of Shirley and Michael Chavez.
Nathaniel was raised in Loveland, Colorado. He attended schools in both Loveland and Berthoud and graduated in Berthoud. He also attended CSU in Fort Collins.
In his youth, Nathaniel enjoyed participating in gymnastics, baseball, soccer, football, tennis, swimming, and Boy Scouts.
At age 14, Nathaniel began volunteering at House of Neighborly Service in Loveland. He said he learned a lot about people, and he was glad he was a volunteer there.
Nathaniel enjoyed listening to music, often going to musical performances throughout the Northern Colorado area. He began guitar lessons in 4th grade and enjoyed it so much he entered his school's talent program only 2 months after starting guitar lessons. His guitar instructor said Nathaniel had a "gifted ear" for learning music and he was one of a few of his students asked to play their guitar at the Rialto for a music program with other students learning guitar in the area. He continued playing his guitar in the Jazz Band at Berthoud High School.
Nathaniel enjoyed performing in school plays. His first role was the lead character of Santa Claus in 5th grade, and he continued to perform in all plays throughout middle school and high school. He also liked to sing and was in choir for several years in high school.
Nathaniel enjoyed being in the mountains and camping and hiking-something he often did with his parents as a youth. He also enjoyed traveling to new sites and places and revisiting places he once traveled to with his parents.
Nathaniel's humor will be missed as well as his smile. While growing up, and throughout his life, many teachers, parents, and acquaintances commented how polite, kind, and well-mannered he was and said he was always asking questions and eager to learn.
Nathaniel attended Foundations Church. He started a Bible study last summer and more recently he was looking into volunteering to lead a small group at Foundations Church.
Nathaniel is survived by his parents Shirley and Michael; his dog, Achilles; his grandparents Lorraine and BenTrujillo and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place, and an intimate celebration of Nathaniel's life will be at a later date.
Nathaniel Austin Chavez...a son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend...Deeply loved and forever will be missed. We love you, Son.. Mama, Papa, and Achilles

Been crying all day after seeing this. We went to high school together and I remember seeing you in plays, you were such a good actor I asked you to act in some of my films for video production and you did! I´ll have to try and find them. I just saw you twice a few months ago at Golden Corral. I´m kicking myself a bit for only waving and not saying hi but you were always super busy running around working. Rest in piece, you were taken far too young.

Nathaniel, I can't believe what I see. You were one of my best friends. One of the kindest, hardworking, and most respectable people I know. My heart breaks for you and your loved ones. I wish we could hangout and grab lunch one more time just to say goodbye.
I remember seeing your plays in high school and seeing how talented you were. I remember all the deep conversations we've had when we were out late driving around in the car. I remember the hikes we did and the times you came out to watch me race. I remember us just being a bunch of awkward teenagers goofing around in a walmart trying not to get too much attention. We were friends during some of the best and worst moments of our lives. You are my brother Nathaniel I pray for you and your family everyday.
Rest easy brother I will see you again one day.
Love,
Noah

Oh, my heart is broken. You were one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. I will forever remember your smile and your vibrant energy. You always said hi and you had a way of making people feel like they mattered. Like they were the only person in the world when you spoke to them. I wish I could give you one more hug! Rest easy, friend!

Spider!! You were such a kind soul and great young man. I can't believe you are gone. You always came in to see me when you were in shopping, saying hello and always smiling and asking how I was and how my son was doing who is in the army. So very kind and thoughtful. Beautiful smile, beautiful soul, becoming an incredible young man, something this world needs. You will be greatly missed
