On Friday, October 17, 2025 God dispatched His angel to bring His beloved son, Nathaniel Pinkston Jr., home to his eternal rest.
Nathaniel, affectionately known as "Nat", was born on May 3, 1948 in Macon, Georgia to the late Katie Mae and Nathaniel Pinkston Sr. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and later moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1966. There he began a new chapter in life filled with love, family, and purpose.
In 1967, Nat met the love of his life, Harriet, whom he affectionately called "Cupid." On August 10, 1968, they were united in marriage, a beautiful union that was blessed with two children, Nathaniel III and Yolanda.
Nat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He worked hard and retired from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) after many years of dedicated service.
In his free time, Nat enjoyed fishing and golfing, passions he often shared with his children and grandchildren. He loved his daughter's cooking and could be found cheering for football teams with a Black quarterback. Nat had a fondness for playing numbers and spending time with his 7-Eleven buddies. He also had a running hobby buying old cars, paying mechanics to fix them, driving them for several months then selling them at a loss, and then starting the cycle all over again. He proudly declared he definitely was not paying a car note! In retirement, Nat loved nothing more than sitting on his porch, being delightfully nosy, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Nat's legacy lives on through his beloved wife Harriet; his children Nathaniel III (Merle) of Brooklyn, NY and Yolanda (Shawn) of Magnolia, DE; brothers Emmett of Dover, DE and Arthur of Brooklyn, NY; sisters: Jeanette of Macon, GA, Betty Jean of Brooklyn, NY, and Mamie of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Asia, Shawn Jr., Joshua, Christopher, and Dyondre'; and great-grandchildren: Savant, Laith, Nylah, and Jax. He is also cherished by his aunt Thelma, sister-in-law Linda, close friends Larry and Mike, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends-all of whom he especially loved and cared for.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katie Mae and Nathaniel Sr.; his sisters Precious and Lillian; and his brother Michael.
Nat will be remembered for his humor, warmth, and the love he shared so freely with everyone around him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Fulton Street and N. Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
