Cothran Mack "Cotton" Riddle, 86, of
Lexington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born on Father's Day, June 18, 1939, in Leesville, South Carolina, Cotton was the son of the late Cothran Lewis Riddle and Ruby Mack Riddle. He grew up with his beloved sisters Barbara McClure and Jewel Hook, who preceded him in death, and Melba Branch of Cayce, SC.
Cotton was a 1957 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and earned his degree from the University of South Carolina in 1963. He dedicated his career to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, serving faithfully as a Civil Engineer and Squad Leader of Interstate Road Design.
For 62 years, Cotton shared a deep and unwavering love with his wife, Ann H. Riddle, building a life filled with devotion, faith, laughter, and countless memories. He was a proud resident of Lexington for more than six decades.
A man of steadfast loyalty, Cotton was a devout Clemson supporter and IPTAY member for 62 years. He never missed a Clemson home football game for more than 45 years and continued attending faithfully until the Fall of 2020. His love for Clemson sports was matched only by his love for time spent with family and friends.
Cotton lived a rich and joyful life, marked by the simple pleasures he cherished: hunting, fishing, following Clemson athletics, gathering with friends in the Full Moon Men's Club, and hosting countless fish fries that became treasured traditions. He was a dedicated member of Mount Horeb Church, where he found fellowship and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his daughters, Lorraine (Chuck) Carter of West Columbia, SC, and Jennifer Riddle, daughter of the home; and his beloved grandchildren, Colby and Chase Carter, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Dale Henry, brother-in-law, Robert Hook, a host of nieces and nephews, and dear friends Charlie and Jo Mayer, Bob and Pam Harmon, and Wayne and Debbie Jones, all of Lexington.
