Neil D. Abate

Neil D. Abate, born on October 9, 1946, in Providence, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Johnston, surrounded by his loving family. As the owner and operator of Abate & Ursillo Plating company and later Noble Industries, Neil spent his entire career in the plating and jewelry industry. His career was marked not only by his business ventures but by his charismatic personality, which was the epitome of a glass half full mentality. Neil embraced every moment as an opportunity, embodying a can-do attitude that inspired many.Neil had a keen interest in local politics and enjoyed engaging with the dynamics of the community. He found great joy in socializing with various groups, navigating the social landscape. His friends and acquaintances often admired his ability to connect with others, fostering relationships built on mutual interests and respect.A passionate New England sports fan, Neil was especially devoted to football and his beloved Patriots. His absolute favorite sport was football. Sundays were sacred for Neil - whether watching the game on TV, traveling to Foxboro, or fortunate enough to attend Super Bowls, football was always at the center of his weekend Of all of his accomplishments, Neil was proudest of his role as a father. He was a constant presence at his sons’ sporting events, supporting his sons, Michael and Christopher, and played an active role as President of the Booster Club for their football teams. He prided himself on never missing a single game. He is survived by his devoted sons, Michael Abate, and his wife, Lisa of Charlotte, North Carolina and Christopher Abate and his wife Stefanie, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He is also remembered by many friends and family members. Neil’s memory will continue to shine brightly in their hearts, reflecting the kindness, love, and joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him.Neil was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Andrea Abate, and his parents, Susan (O'Neil) Abate and Fortunato Abate. Their spirits remain a part of his enduring legacy.Neil D. Abate will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit and the lessons he imparted will carry on through his family and all who were fortunate to know him.
