Robert J. Mello, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elvira (Flaco) Mello. He was the beloved husband of Beverly A. ( Carnevale) Mello they have been married for 58 years . He also leaves his wonderful daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Peter Marino of Cranston. He leaves his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda ( Carnevale) Cusick and Robert. He was the uncle of Susan (Cusick) Hill and husband Bruce and their children Veronica and Alex. He was also the uncle of Joseph Cusick and wife Kelly (Blaine) and their children Rachel and Courtney. He also leaves many wonderful cousins and their families.
Bob graduated from Cranston High School East in 1965, and immediately began his banking career at Hospital Trust Bank. His banking career spanned 48 years. Through acquisitions and mergers, he had the opportunity to work for 5 other banks. After graduating from Cranston East, he enrolled in a degree program at Roger William University. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. He also served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard. Along the way, he had the opportunity to volunteer for various non-profit organizations. His most recent opportunity was volunteering for the “City Meal Site, Inc.” which provides free meals to the homeless. He was also an Officer of the Constantinian University. The University awarded honorary degrees to men and women around the world that have made major contributions to the betterment of the human race.
His funeral will leave at 9:00 am on Tuesday September 2, 2025, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be Monday September 1, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
