Neil Alan Sampson, 74, of Rowley, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 29, 1950, in Salem, MA, to the late Albert "Sam" and Eleanor Sampson, Neil grew up in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1968. He proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1969 to 1973, training diligently during the Vietnam War era with dedication and honor.

Neil shared 53 cherished years with his beloved wife, Linda (Maihos) Sampson. Married on May 19, 1976, they built a joyful life together, raising a beautiful family over their 49 years of marriage. Neil's devotion to Linda was matched only by his pride in their children and grandchildren.

For 47 years, Neil owned and operated Sampson Trucking, Inc., where his meticulous care for his trucks, equipment, and job sites earned him a reputation for excellence. Known for the cleanest fleet in the area and an unwavering work ethic, Neil never cut corners, approaching every project with integrity and precision.

A skilled craftsman, Neil could fix nearly anything. In his earlier years, he took great pride in restoring a 1955 Crown Victoria and rebuilding two motorcycles-a Chopper and a Triumph. His passion for hands-on work extended to his impeccably landscaped yard, a testament to his attention to detail. Above all, Neil cherished his role as "Papou" to his beautiful granddaughters, Jayla and Joliene, whom he loved with all his heart.

Neil leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda (Maihos) Sampson; his son, Neil Sampson, Jr.; his daughter, Nicole (Sampson) Peura and her husband, Christopher Peura; and his adored granddaughters, Jayla and Joliene Peura, all of Rowley, Massachusetts.

He is also survived by his siblings: Janet Evitts and her spouse Tommy of Madison, NH; Elaine Jackson and her spouse Richie of Danvers, MA; David Sampson and his spouse Sandy of Ossipee, NH; Paul Sampson and his spouse Vicki of Kansas; Dana Sampson of Beverly, MA; and Amy Sampson of Middleton, NH.

Neil's strength, determination, and one-of-a-kind spirit left a mark on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, pride, and unwavering commitment to his family.

Linda, I can't tell you how saddened I am to hear of Neil's passing. It was always such a pleasure when I would see you both. You know John and Neil were two peas in a pod and John cherished Neil's friendship. I can't even begin to think of what kind of mischief they are going to get into up there. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
