Earlene Sampson Obituary

Earlene Sampson, affectionately known to all as "Cookie", departed this life at the age of seventy-eight on October 06, 2025 at Tidal Health in Seaford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Elder William Wesley Sampson and Clara Elizabeth Sampson.
She attended public schools in Dorchester County. Most of her working years were spent at Coldwater Seaford in Cambridge, MD and Preston Trucking 151 Line in Preston, MD. Her last job was private housekeeping in Talbot County. In the 1980's and 1990's, she also did Jheri curls as well.
Cookie was well known in and around the community for her exceptional cooking skills. Everything was homemade including the dumplings, waffles and beef soup. She loved cooking Caribbean foods for her husband and family. Cow foot soup was always a request in addition to the Granny's jerked ribs requested by her grandson. If something was not perfect, she did not mind giving her opinion about your cooking. According to her sister Margaret, if she gave you a recipe, she always left out a main ingredient which was the secret to the recipe.
Decorating for different seasons of the year was something she loved. Riding and shopping with her husband Lewis, sister Margaret and daughter Lynette were important and special. On Fridays she loved eating crabs with her son Rhett. Traveling and listening to old school music were also among her favorite things to do.
Cookie had a smile that would light up a room. You could feel the warmth and genuineness of her heart. When she gave advice, it wasn't based on gossip but came from the heart. She was a good wife; mother; stepmother; grandmother; great-grandmother; sister; aunt and friend.
Cookie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Lewis Harris; daughter, Lynette Sampson; son, Rhett Sampson (Dionne); grandson, William Sampson; bonus daughter, Sherry Lake (James); stepdaughter, Tricia Ann Harris; bonus grandson, William Beasley Jr.; and bonus great granddaughter, Nora Beasley. She is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine Adams and Margaret Sampson. Additionally, she is survived by seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in- law: Beulah Grey; Louise Riley; Maggi Mills; Georgia Harris; Venetia Harris; Faith Harris; Lebert Grey and Conrad Harris- all of Jamaica and sister-in-law, Evelyn Sampson of Hurlock, MD. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as, special friends - Clara Jean Banks, Sandra Lee, Ann Barnes and Pastor Vanessa Dobson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Sampson and Wendell Sampson; two sisters, Geneva Sampson and Mary Agnes Sampson; and great -grandson, Ja'Brion Johnson.
