Vernon L. Cephas Sr.

Vernon L. Cephas of Hurlock, MD passed away comfortably on 10/8/2025 at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. He was born June 7, 1947, at home in Hurlock, MD to Joseph (Josiah) and Lydia Cephas.
Vernon was a graduate of Maces Lane High school in 1966.
He was drafted into the U.S Army on October 7, 1966, and was honorably discharged October 4, 1968. He served 1 tour in Vietnam. He received the National Service Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was immensely proud of his military service.
He is survived by Daughter Tyvonnia Bull of Greer South Carolina, Son-In-Law Kevin Bull Sr. of Greer, S.C., Son Vernon Cephas of Smyrna, DE, Son Ruben Cephas of Bear, DE Daughter-In-Law Andrea Cephas of Bear, DE, and a host of grandchildren and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his Father Joseph (Josiah) Cephas, Mother Lydia Meekins Cephas, Brothers Emerson Conway, Joe Louis Cephas, Charles (Maynard) Cephas, Sister Peggy Harris, and son Dwayne Cephas.
In his later years, he was a simple man with a great singing voice who enjoyed sitting outside being in nature where he would conversate with friends he made while living at Shiloh House Senior Apartments.
