Nelda Darlene Bridges Cox

Funeral services for Nelda Darlene Bridges Cox 76, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Justin Bullard officiating. Interment will follow at Simpson Campground Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox was born on December 23, 1948, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Curtis Bridges and Maxine (Mims) Bridges, and died Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Lufkin.
Mrs. Cox was a member of Eastview United Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed singing at church and serving the Lord through the church. She was a long time residence of Lufkin and participated in the local bowling league. Mrs. Cox was a very talented cosmetologist for many years. At a young age she was the business owner of Sonic Drive Inn and Tinley's Fried Chicken. Above all she adored her family and grandchildren and would do anything for them.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Kelley of Lufkin; granddaughter, Courtney Kelley of Lufkin; granddaughter, Amber Kelley of Port Arthur; grandson and wife, Dillon and Charvey and Kelley of North Carolina; granddaughter, Avery Kelley of Kerrville, TX; great-grandchildren, Kannon Kotz, Rileigh Jackson, Alana Gobert, Addy Kelley, Millie Kelley, and Dawson Kelley; sister and husband, Patricia and Charles Fenley of Lufkin; daughters-in-law, Mandy Williams and Tracey Stuckart; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; son, Stephen Dwayne Kelley; and late husband, Larry Cox and Stephen L. Kelley.
Pallbearers will be Damon Fenley, Justin La Forge, Jason Bridges, Keith Stuckart, Jackson Kotz, and Kannon Kotz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Ivy and Kevin Kelley.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
