Nelda Faye Chamberlain, 90, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Panhandle. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, June 6, 2025. There will be a family and friends visitation at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Nelda was born on October 28, 1934, in Hall County, Texas to James Bart Henson Sr and Laurella Estelle (Hall) Henson. She loved to read and grow flowers. She drove the school bus for many years and worked at the prisons as a correctional officer. She was a member of the Rebekah’s and Ladies VFW auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; grandson, William Neel Garrison; daughter-in-law, Donna; and a brother, James Bart Henson Jr.
Surviving are her sons, Roger Dale Stevens of Sparks Nevada, Thomas Lee Stevens and wife April of Panhandle;. daughters, Donna Stevens of Clarendon, Texas, Mlissa Fred and husband Rocky of Bastrop, Texas; brother, Thomas Wayne Henson and wife Darlene; twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
