BROOKLAND - Mrs. Nelda Jeanette Milburn departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2025 at St. Bernards Medical Center, at the age of 76.
She was born Oct. 29, 1948, in Jonesboro, to James Edward Gambill and Mary Jeanette Tucker Gambill.
Nelda was a graduate of Brookland High School in 1966, and went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Special Education from Arkansas State University. Nelda was a school teacher for Piggott School District for 8 years followed by 2 years in Louisiana. She was a stay at home mother to raise her two sons. After that, she taught children at the Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas and Headstart. She was the wife of a career Army veteran and lived in several locations during his career. She was a homemaker, loved reading, and helped boys in Scouting activities. She was a member of the Brookland United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Gambill and her brother, James Keith Gambill.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Johnny Milburn, of the home; two sons, Cody Milburn and Chad Milburn, her mother, Mary Jeanette Gambill of Brookland and a cousin Kay White and her husband Dr. Jackie White of Imboden.
Those honored to be pallbearers are Barry Grimes, Kelly McGaughey, Danny Yarbrough, Van Higgins and Honorary pallbearer, Buddy Couch.
Visitation will be today, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Bennie Isom and Reverend Chris Kjorlaug. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.
The family request lasting memorials to Pine Log Cemetery or Brookland United Methodist Church.
