Nelda M. Reed

Nelda M. Reed, 87, of Monroe, WI, formerly of Warren, IL passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at SSM Monroe Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born on April 13, 1936, in Freeport, IL to Harry and Bessie (Schultz) Doubler. Nelda was united in marriage to Francis Reed on March 12, 1955, at the Warren United Methodist Church.
Nelda retired after 31 years as a nurse's aid from St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, WI. Nelda enjoyed crafting, especially knitting, doing ceramics, and making jewelry. She also enjoyed baking, and in her younger years she enjoyed going dancing at Turner Hall in Monroe and going to playing cards. Raising her four children and spending time with her grandchildren was her pride and joy. She was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church.
Nelda is survived by her four children; Jeffrey (Patricia) Reed of Bolingbrook, IL, Randy (Jeanne) Reed of Apple River, IL, Judy (David) Hiatt of Monroe, WI and Jodi Reed of Monroe, WI, seven grandchildren; Sarah, Joshua, Matthew, Nicole, Lance, Tyler, Jason; fourteen great-grandchildren; Christopher, Nicholas, Michael, Jaxon, Jalin, Sydney, Alexandria, Brenna, Elyse, Owen, Liam, Brooklyn, Jovee, Watson and one on the way, and one sister; Phyllis Seffrood of Freeport, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis in 2007, two sisters; Betty Rowe and Darlene Gilbertson, and three brothers Glenn, Robert, and Lee Doubler.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL with a visitation from 12:30pm until time of service.
A visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.
Pastor Brian Barrett will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
