Nelda Jean “Jeannie” Skipper, 81, of Texas City, TX passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Nelda was born on September 7, 1942, to Hubert Earl and Dorothy Rose Touchstone in Waco, TX. She loved to cook and bake for her family, read books, and work on mind puzzles. She leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who she adored. Mawmaw, as she was called, always spoke highly of her grandchildren and was super proud of all they have accomplished and become. Her love was deep and everlasting for Jesus and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Earl Sr., and Dorothy Rose Touchstone; son, Michael Calvin Skipper; brother, Hubert Earl Touchstone Jr.; brothers-in-law, Leon Scott Dickerson and Larry Myers; and sister-in-law, Glenda Jane Touchstone.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Howard Skipper Sr.; sons, Joe Howard Skipper Jr. and wife Michelle, James Gregory Skipper and wife Shana; grandchildren, Michelle Christine Salinas and husband Mark, Aaron Michael Skipper and fiancé Bernice, Corey Allen Skipper and wife Ashley, Chastity Lynn Skipper and fiancé Travis, Kristen Paige and Kayce Lynne Barajas; great grandchildren Maddix and Mason Salinas, Delilah Skipper, Rhett Guerra, and Ethan and Novalie Skipper Elizarraraz; step-great grandchildren, Kagan Thompson and Nolan Hoogterp; brothers and sisters, Jack Touchstone, Bonnie Dickerson, Ricky Touchstone, and Peggy Touchstone; and many more family and friends who she admired.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City with a visitation at 12:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
