Mrs. Nellie Gertrude Vestal Fowler, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Yadkin Co., the daughter of the late Abner Gorrell Vestal and Norma Opal Wishon Vestal. Mrs. Fowler loved the Lord and was a member of Northpoint Baptist Church and also attended King Christian Center. She loved to cook and feed everyone with big Sunday meals. Mrs. Fowler will be remembered for her servant’s heart. She also loved to garden and travel, always ready to go. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Charles Fowler, Jr.; three brothers, Donald Vestal, Ken Vestal and Bob Vestal; and her lifelong friend, Pat Wyatt. She is survived by her three daughters, Gaynell Smith, Darlene Rodriguez and Sharon Perry; one son, Bill Fowler (Lydia); nine grandchildren, Tammy Moody, Connie Sato, Anthony Smith, Teresa Abarca, Matt Spainhour, Shane Fowler, Shannon Hurd, Crystal Ashby and Daniel Perry; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Hancock. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Pastor Randall Smith officiating. Mrs. Fowler will lie-in-state at Hayworth-Miller in Rural Hall from 11:00-5:00 on Tuesday for those who would like to pay their respects. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: King Christian Center or to the charity of the donor’s choice in Mrs. Fowler’s memory.
