Nellie Irene Lawson, age 97 of Townsend, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at the family home surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Townsend Church of God for many years and enjoyed working in the H.E.L.P.S. ministry. She was able to do sign language and loved to sign during worship services for the messages and singing for different churches through the years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Arley B. Lawson; daughters, Helen Linginfelter and Joyce Myers, as well as 14 brothers and sisters. Survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Nancy Rodgers Heinen of Texas, Mary Lee Rex, Irene Lawson, and Sue and Dave Hoque; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Cody; The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 8:00 until 8:45 AM with a celebration of life to follow at 8:45 AM with Bro. Donnie Fine officiating. The interment service and burial will follow at 10:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend with Rev. Doug Blair officiating.
