Nellie Cathryn McElmurray, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025 peacefully in her sleep at home with her family, at 72 years of age. She was born October 19, 1952 in Buford Georgia, to Lucy and Sylvester Stone. Nellie was adventurous and had a zest for life. She was full of spunk and lived life on her own terms. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and her loving heart will be remembered by all. She was a kind soul who loved animals and the proud mom of her beloved daughter. She loved holidays and always made Thanksgiving and Christmas a special time of year. She was famous for her green thumb and summer gardens. She embraced her Native American heritage and bestowed wisdom and life lessons to all who knew her. Nellie will truly be missed by all. Her love, good cooking, gardening, and sense of humor will be in the hearts of all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Vernice Sadler, Betty Jean Wansley, Vera Walker, and Pauline Owens; brothers Edward Stone, Walter Stone, Willie Stone, and Paul Stone. Nellie is survived by her daughter Felicia Harper Fields and son in law Antwan D. Fields of Albert Lea Minnesota. Goddaughters Candice Servantez of Albert Lea Minnesota, Natalie Zills and (Godson) Levi Zills of Albert Lea Minnesota, and Dominique Walker of Tennessee. She is also survived by her two sisters Linda Millsap of Gainesville Georgia, and Mary Jo Mathieu of Texas. Nellie leaves behind special niece Darlene Osborne of Georgia, also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends Kelly Anderson, Gene Johnson, Elaine Burkart, and Tommy Henderson of Albert Lea, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home at 2PM with visitation to be held for an hour prior to the service.
