Nellie Osborne Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 20, 2024.
Nellie Faye Flinchum Osborne, known affectionately as Faye, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, NC, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by love in her final moments. Faye was born on October 8, 1937, in Surry County, NC, to the late Clyde Columbus Flinchum and Lillian Tucker Flinchum. She lived a life filled with creativity, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
A talented seamstress, Faye's hands crafted not only beautiful garments but also cherished memories for those lucky enough to receive her handmade creations. She had a passion for collecting dolls and delighted in sharing her culinary talents with all who crossed her threshold. Visitors were always treated to a feast of her delicious meals and desserts, a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for hospitality.
Faye's love for her family was unparalleled. She poured her heart into every birthday cake she baked for her three sons and reveled in attending their baseball games, cheering them on with unwavering support. Alongside her husband Jimmy, she found joy in music, relishing his performances as he sang and played at local venues.
Her adventurous spirit led her to the beach, where she created lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and her cherished niece, Brenda and her husband, Oliver Turner. Faye's bond with Brenda was profound, their daily calls a testament to the depth of their affection.
With a strong work ethic, Faye approached every task with dedication and determination, whether caring for her home or during her various employments throughout her life. She was renowned for her kindness and sweet demeanor, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Faye is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband of 67 years, James G. Osborne, Sr., and her siblings, Helen Schoolfield, Maxine Malabre, "Bud" Flinchum and Jerry Flinchum. She is survived by her three devoted sons: James Glenn Osborne, Jr. (Beth) of Wilson, NC, Steven Wayne Osborne, and Timothy Mark Osborne, both of Henderson, NC; her grandchildren Will Osborne of Arlington, VA, John Osborne, and Zach Osborne, both of Raleigh, NC, and Maggie Guevara (Andrew) of Landstuhl, Germany; and her great-grandson Alexander "Alex" Guevara, also of Landstuhl, Germany. She leaves behind her beloved sisters, Lucy Livengood and Peggy Crider of Greensboro, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor Faye's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro, NC. There will be no public visitation. Hanes and Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home is entrusted with serving the Osborne Family during this difficult time.
Faye's legacy of love, compassion, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
