Nellie Marie Sechrist Easter

Mrs. Nellie Marie Sechrist Easter, 83, of Cana, Virginia passed away January 17, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 15, 1942, in Carroll County, Virginia to the late David “Dave” Lee Sechrist and the late Cora Lee Beck Sechrist. She was an avid gardener and loved working in her flower beds, making sure to plant her favorite, yellow and purple pansies. She was of the Baptist faith and attended New Chairty Baptist Church when her health allowed. Nellie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Wilma Pack; grandchildren, Christopher Bowman and Victoria, Misty Easter and Brian Utt, Sheena Bowman, Nikki Edwards and Dale, and Courtney Haynes; great grandchildren, Titus and Asher Rorrer, Max and Mia Utt, Gavin and Grayson Edwards, McKenzie and Cody Haynes, and Allie, Haylee, Hudson, and Deegan Bowman; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. David Sechrist and Barbara; a special friend who was more like a daughter, Darla Hodges; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Franklin Easter; sons, Ricky Easter, and Tim Easter; and sisters, Alma Sechrist, and Opal Robertson. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at New Charity Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at New Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Hank Robertson and Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, along with the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the care she received.
