Nelson Amado Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright Funeral Home - Randolph on Feb. 27, 2026.
Nelson Oliveira Amado Sr., 66, of Randolph, MA, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026.

Born in Fogo, Cape Verde on October 30, 1959 to Antonio (deceased) and Margarida "Dulce" Amado.(deceased). Nelson carried the warmth, resilience, and deep-rooted love of family that defined his island upbringing throughout his life. In 1977, he migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, in pursuit of opportunity and a brighter future, building a life grounded in hard work, dedication, and devotion to those he loved most. He worked for 30+ years for Duncan Galvanize in Everett, MA.

Nelson was a generous, kind, funny, and a gentle soul whose presence lit up every room. He had a deep love for music-especially jazz-which reflected his creative spirit and appreciation for life's rhythm and beauty. Whether sharing a laugh, offering quiet support, or simply enjoying time with family, Nelson made everyone feel valued and cared for.

Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving children: Nelson Jr.. of Boston, MA, Thomas of Medford, MA, Alberto of Suitland, MD, Gaudencio of Suitland, MD, and Brianna of Gardner, MA. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Alberto Jr., Noah, Elijah, Gabriella, Prae, Nasim, and Ariel Amado. His love for his family was immeasurable, and his legacy will live on through each of them. Nelson also leaves his sister Eunice Monteiro (husband- Antonio), brother Bartolomeu, sister Maria Cardoso (husband- Jose), and brother Alberto, as well as 9 nieces and nephews, 6 great nieces & nephews, a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nelson's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, March 8th, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., Randolph. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 9th, at 11:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St, Stoughton. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
