Manuel Amado Jr.

ONSET – Manuel Amado, Jr., 68 of Onset, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.

He lived in Onset most of his life, and has resided in New Bedford for the past few years.

Manny attended Wareham High School. He was a plumber and a member of UA Local Plumbers and Pipefitters 51/77. Manny was also a member of Social Harmony Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Wareham.

He was a very laid back, humble man who loved the outdoors and listening to his favorite R & B group, "The Whispers."

He was a great plumber and could fix and build anything. Manny also worked at Ocean Spray for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Manny is survived by his wife, Michelle Barbosa of New Bedford; his daughter, Toneka Pires Royal and her husband Robert of New Orleans, LA; his son, Manny Amado Pires and his wife Kathy of New Bedford; his mother Marie Amado of Onset; his siblings, Sheila Pocknett of Wareham, Toni Santos of E. Wareham, Nikki Oliviera of Cataumet, Mary Lou Amado Pires of Marion, Mark Amado of San Diego, CA, Tracy Amado of E. Wareham, Carla Johnson of New Bedford, Myrna Amado of Onset and Keith Amado of Palm Springs, CA. He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren, great granddaughter and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, the late Manuel Amado and brothers and sister, the late Ceasar Almeida, Joseph Almeida and Linda Gomes.
