Roger E. Ouellette

November 5, 1946 to February 3, 2026

Roger E. Ouellette, 79, died February 3, 2026 in Mattapoisett. Roger was born in Wareham, MA on November 5, 1946. He was the son of the late Roger and Gladys (Briggs) Ouellette. Roger, known by his family and friends as "Rog", was raised in Marion, MA. He was a graduate of Old Rochester Regional High School where he played football and ice hockey.

Upon graduation Roger enrolled in the University of Montana. After a brief time there he joined the US Marine Corps. Roger served four years in the US Marine Corps and fought in the Vietnam war. Mr. Ouellette was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal,Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Combat Aircrew Insignia, Presidential Unit Citation, Rifle Marksman Badge. He was honorably discharged on Nov 4, 1970 having attained the rank of Sgt/E5.

After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Roger worked various jobs including special needs aide in the Wareham Public Schools, computer technician at St. Lukes Hospital where he started his interest in computers, operating systems and software and massage therapist, He also worked as a ground's keeper at the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center in Lancaster, MA. The health center catered to various celebrities. A few were Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson and George Harrison of the Beatles, whom Roger met.

Roger took an interest in soccer when his daughter Aimee started playing. He later coached the Wareham High School girls' soccer team for five years. Roger developed a keen interest in weather, environment, space and astronomy. He enjoyed riding his bike, especially on the Mattapoisett Rail Trail.

After Roger's father passed, Roger took over tending to his father's back yard garden. He took pleasure in growing fresh vegetables for he and his mother.

Roger is survived by his daughter Aimee Chavez of Pembrooke Pines, Florida and four grandchildren: Carolina, Gabriela, Hector and Isabella. Roger is also survived by his sister, Judy (Ouellette) Demers and her husband, Daniel of Ipswich, MA. and two nieces and five great nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, March 21st at 11 AM at the Old Landing Cemetery, Spring Street, Marion, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mattapoisett Council on Aging (17 Barstow Street, P.O. Box 528, Mattapoisett, MA 02739).
