Nelson Robert Bogart, also known as Robert, Bob, Bogee, dad, grandpa, and papa by those who loved him, 87 years of age, of Elk Grove, CA, passed into the arms of our Lord peacefully at Kaiser on May 23, 2025.

Nelson was born on July 28, 1937 to the parents of Arthur and Dorothy Bogart in New York. At the age of 17 Nelson joined the Air Force, as a vehicle operator, Airman Second Class and honorably discharged on January 16, 1958.

Nelson worked as a diesel mechanic for Transcon trucking company, Omaha, Nebraska, then transferred to Sacramento, California in 1979. Later when Transcon closed their doors he was hired by Rainbow Bakery, Sacramento, CA and worked as a diesel mechanic and retired from Rainbow 07-31-1999.

After retirement Nelson spent his time traveling, entertaining grandchildren, doing yardwork, fixing and repairing things and helping others in their time of need, working for the food locker and St. Vincent de Paul society. He dedicated his time and talent with many other church activities.

Memorial weekend 2012, Nelson met Erlina Rogers at Sanger/Fresno, CA. The two later married in Sanger 06-22-2013 at St. Mary's Church.

Nelson was predeceased by his parents, spouses Nancy Bogart, Rita Bogart, son Mark, sister Sonya, granddaughter Shiloh and grandson Lance.

Nelson is survived by his wife, Erlina, and his "children": Rita Bogart, Gregory Bogart, Lisa Kates, Rebecca Hatfield, Edward Bogart, Jeffery Bogart, Charlene La Grassa, Lillibeth Adunga, Rosalio Occo Jr., Dallia Portadiel, Ronnie Occo, and Raymund Occo. Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren. Sibling's Marsha, Steven, Karen and Patty.

Family is requesting for those attending services to wear something with Nelson's favorite color: yellow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Loaves and Fishes. Touch the icons below to donate.
