Anastasia "Nettie" Kuznia, Age 95, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a pillar of her faith community, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at North Star Manor,
Warren, MNOn July 27, 1930, Nettie was born to Ignatius "Nick" and Dorothy (Paluszenski) Donarski in Marshall County near Florian, MN. Throughout her life, her deep-seated faith remained a constant source of guidance, particularly during her marriage to Florian "Floyd" Kuznia, whom she married on June 26, 1950, in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, in Florian. Their marriage span over 63 years, a period marked by both happiness and, sometimes, hardship. Nettie and Floyd were blessed with and cherished eight children. In the early years they moved to Grand Forks and Minot, North Dakota for Floyd's work. They eventually decided it was best to raise their children on a farm. After the children were grown, you would often see Floyd and Nettie sitting side-by-side, watching The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune. Once, during the annual family camping trip, the rest of the family wondered where Floyd and Nettie had disappeared to, only to find them sitting in their car, listening to the Twins on the radio.
From the time Nettie was a young girl, she tended to the chores on the farm alongside her father. For that reason, she never learned to cook until she first got married. It didn't take long before family and friends were raving about her meals and how they never left her home hungry. One of the favorites were potato dumplings, which Floyd and Nettie always made together. The daughters often laugh, thinking back, how Mom always used every dish and kettle when making a meal. The children's favorite memory is coming home from school to the smell of fresh baked bread or cookies.
Nettie took care of the home and children while Floyd worked long hours away from the house- and her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.
Following the passing of her husband in 2013, Nettie moved from the farm to Warren. She moved to North Star Manor in March 2020, immediately prior to the pandemic. And while the lockdown restricted outside visitors, Nettie did her best to visit with them outside her window. With her outgoing personality, and love for people, Nettie rapidly developed a large circle of friends who assembled around her every evening to converse about days gone by. Nettie was highly regarded by all with whom she was acquainted, including the staff. She unfailingly exhibited a warm smile and always expressed kind words. She will surely be missed by all who knew her.
Nettie is survived by seven of her children, Henrietta Linder of Warren, Dorothy (Wyman) Hjelle of Karlstad, MN, Karen (Bruce) Clark of Watertown, MN, Michael Kuznia of Ham Lake, MN, Kevin (Julie) Kuznia of Big Lake, MN, Kimberly (Todd) Dalsing and Garnette Kuznia both of Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 great-greats; and siblings, Irvin (Sally) Donarski of Roseau, and Yvonne Adams of Reynolds, ND.
In addition to her husband, Floyd, Nettie was preceded in death by her son, Gerald "Jerry" Kuznia; great-grandson, David Knutson; her parents; and siblings, Nick "Junior" Donarski, Eileen Tucker, Frances Dahl, and Stella Fitzsimmons.
