Neva L. Marsh, 95 of Dover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, under the care of Ohio’s Hospice in Park Village Health Care at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born August 4, 1929, in Barnhill, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Thelma (Conley) Smitley.
She married Jerry Lee Marsh on October 6, 1956 in Richmond, Indiana, and together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage before his passing in July of 1991.
Neva was a loving homemaker. She was a caregiver to each of the generations of her family. She could often be found playing on the floor even with her great-grandchildren. She loved to play games with family and friends. One of the favorite games with her great-grandkids was hide the cookie.
Neva also loved to shop. She was known to dress in matching outfits from head to toe. In her free-time she took great pride in making sure the front of her house was clean. She often would even sweep the road in front of her home. She attended NewPointe Community Church for many years.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Marsh of Dover, Cynthia (Kenny) Young of Dover, and Greg (Becky) Marsh of Dover; grandchildren, Michael Marsh, Amber (Ron) McBride, Jamie (Ryan) Bowland, Adrian Marsh, Ryker (Kara) Marsh, Taylor (Zach) Rafter, Lucas (Victoria Bailey) Marsh, and Lexus Marsh; great-grandchildren, Michael Swinford, Olivia Marsh, Braylon McBride, Chase Miller, Cayle McBride, Isaac Bowland, JP Miller, Aleah McBride, Mila Marsh, and CeCe Marsh; sister, Shirley Richards; brother-in-law, Jerry Hahn; sisters-in-law, Carol Marsh, Robin Smitley, and Shirley Smitley; special friends, Ruthann Bowland, Phil Miller, and niece, Brenda Menapace; former daughter-in-law, Marianne Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas (Klara) Smitley, Marge (Hank) Menapace, Betty (Houg) Walton, Dorothy (Bob) Waller, Libby Hahn, Clarence Smitley, Danny Smitley, Mildred Smitley, Beatrice Smitley, and Phillip Smitley; and son Jeff’s fiancé, Nancy Joyner.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. in Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service will be led by Dwight Mason in the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in East Ave. Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
