Neville Alexander Nembhard, 96, of Apopka, FL, passed away on January 14th after a valiant battle with an unknown progressive neurological disorder.
Neville was born on January 12th, 1929, to Wilbert Nembhard and Isabelle Facey in the parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies. He left St. Elizabeth when he was three years old and grew up in Manchester, Jamaica. After graduating he learned the skilled trade of House Painting from JISCO Alpart Construction Company. Neville migrated to England, United Kingdom in 1962 where he continued to work this trade. In 1972 he immigrated to the United States and worked for Woodward & Lothrop.
After immigrating to the United States, he landed a job as a House Painter for Woodward & Lothrop, enjoying 13-years there as a Master House Painter.
In 1962, he reconnected with Janet (Weathers) Nembhard, and they wed in 1965, going on to have three children, John, Jacqueline and Jeffrey.
After retiring in 1988, Neville spent his time singing in three church choirs at New Dawn Baptist Church in Maryland and serving on the Board of Trustees. Later, Neville relocated to Florida and joined Wekiva Spring Baptist Church singing in their church choir, attending Bible study, gardening, landscaping his home, fishing, playing dominoes, and recounting many stories of his childhood.
Neville is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, George and Samuel. He is survived by his wife, Janet Nembhard; his brother Alvin Wellington; his sister, Hortense (Wellington) Plummer; his eight children, John Nembhard, Jacqueline Nembhard MD, Jeffrey Nembhard, Barbara DaCosta, Jennifer Nembhard, Roy Nembhard, Elaine Nembhard and Errol Nembhard; and his nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren
