Nicholas (Nick) Barbera, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cousin, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. A lifelong resident of Burlington Township, Nick was known and cherished by many for his warm smile, sharp wit, and kind heart.
In his younger years, Nick proudly served in the U.S. National Guard before beginning a long and dedicated career as a tractor trailer driver for National Gypsum Haulage in Florence, NJ. He took pride in his work and the life he built through perseverance and dedication.
Nick had a true passion for finding value in what others might overlook. He loved his "junk," always eager to recycle and repurpose, seeing potential and worth in the discarded. This resourceful spirit was just one of the many ways Nick brought light and energy to everyday life. He had a special way of making people feel seen, heard, and cared for.
He was a longtime member of the Moorestown congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he was embraced and loved by many in the community.
It was at the Holiday Roller Skating Rink that fate brought him together with the love of his life, Carol Fleming Barbera. They shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
Nick's legacy lives on in those he leaves behind: his devoted daughter Jaime Barbera Brooks; his loving sister Jennie Barbera Painter; his cherished grandchildren Shane Brooks (Caylee) and Hanna Brooks; and his great-grandson Jayce Brooks. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Kim Archer Hans (Willie), Tab Archer (Kelly), and Thomas Archer (Connie), along with the Archer grandchildren Heide Sherwood Chando (Thomas), Tab Selkow, Dallis Iannoni, Dillan Archer, Katie McGuire (Gavin), and Thomas Archer, all of whom he loved as his own.
Nick was also a treasured uncle to many-Francis Barbera, Anthony Barbera Jr., Bobby Barbera, Anthony Barbera III, Michelle Painter Robertson (Gregg), William Painter Jr. (Cheryl), Steven Painter (Debbie), and Bruce Painter (Darlene)-as well as a beloved cousin to the Bertino family of Beverly, NJ.
He now reunites with those who went before him: his dear parents Benedetto and Vincenza Caravello Barbera, and he is reunited in peace with his beloved wife Carol, his former wife Joyce Marcelliano Barbera, his brother Anthony Barbera Sr., and his sister Angelina Barbera.
Nick Barbera will be remembered for the joy he brought into every room, the strength with which he lived his life, and the love he so freely gave. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"How lucky we are to have known someone who makes saying goodbye so difficult, and whose love leaves us with so much to miss, but even more to cherish."
