In Loving Memory of

Vincent John Barbera

February 3, 1951 – August 11, 2025

Vincent John Barbera, proud Vietnam veteran, devoted husband and father, passed away on August 11, 2025, at the age of 74.

Vincent was born in Buffalo, New York, to Gilette and Michael Barbera. He grew up with his brother and sister, and throughout his youth he was surrounded by the love of cousins, aunts, and uncles who remained important in his life. His childhood was spent on both coasts, in New York and later in Hollywood, California, where he developed his sharp sense of humor and gift for storytelling.

In 1969, Vince enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with Fighter Squadron 111 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed both in-country and aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, where he supported squadrons flying F-4 Phantoms. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. His service also included humanitarian efforts such as supporting the Tan Binh Orphanage, part of what sailors called "Project Cindy." In later years, he spoke with pride about his time on the Kitty Hawk, remembering the friendships he made and the dangers of life aboard a carrier at war. "She was my home," he once wrote, "and I'll always remember her."

After returning home, Vince pursued his passion for photography, studying it in college and creating images that filled his home with beauty. He carried that same eye for beauty into his career as a successful real estate agent, where he was known for working tirelessly to present every home in its best light. He later became a paralegal in Fremont, California, and also ran his own bakery, enjoying every chance to serve others and to build something of his own.

Outside of work, Vince's life was full of adventure. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved nothing more than riding across the country, making numerous cross-country trips with his wife well into his 60s. Whether on the open road, behind a camera, or telling stories with family and friends, he was always known for his infectious laugh, his warmth, and his generous spirit.

Vince is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Barbera, and his son, Kirk Barbera, who will carry forward his memory with pride and love. He will be remembered as a man of courage, creativity, humor, and devotion - someone who lived fully and gave deeply to those around him.
