Nicholas Calin died suddenly and unexpectedly in Romania on May 2, 2024. He was 24 years old. Nicholas was born to Nicolae and Sylvia Calin on August 28, 1999.
He grew up in Michigan, forming a close lifelong bond to his sister, Alexandra Calin. Eventually he made the big decision to move to his parents homeland, Romania, for his studies. There he joined his beloved cousins, George Risca and Stefan Risca, at university. Nicholas had a strong passion for fitness and health. He pushed himself to be active, holding himself to a high standard. He enjoyed lifting in the gym, boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He wanted to envelop himself in his passion for fitness, changing his major to kinetotherapy. There, he planned to fulfill himself by learning how to help children with physical disabilities overcome their challenges.
Additionally, Nicholas obtained his certification in personal training, as helping others onto their path of fitness and bettering oneself brought him joy. He was beginning to flourish, setting himself on a beautiful path pursuing his true passions. While at university, he met his true love, Olga. Their love was pure, innocent and a partnership truly divine. She was more than his soulmate, in his eyes she was a gift from God Himself. She brought him a happiness that was contagious, seeing their love brought warmth to your heart.
Being around Nicholas, your inner child is able to come out. He makes you happy, makes you laugh, and his presence always was a comfort. Nicholas was always happy to help those around him, it was second nature to him. He liked to keep busy, and was creative with new projects, his hobbies, and looking ahead to the future. Nicholas was also very hard on himself, the extreme kindness he shared onto others he did not give to himself. He was full of life and goals for the future, and we looked forward to basking in the joy of what he may bring.
Our hearts are shattered that Nicholas's journey in life has ended so short. We hope Nicholas knows how much he was loved. Life is fragile. We will never understand why such a young, handsome healthy man was taken away. Nicholas, you completed our lives and we will miss forever. We will miss your heart of gold, your kind soul, and everyday we will mourn your future that you were robbed of.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Sunday, May 12th, 5-8pm. Saracusta 7pm. The Funeral Service will be Monday 9:30am at Descent of the Holy Ghost Romanian Orthodox Church in Warren. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Grass Lake.
