Nicholas Springs Davenport, IV, passed away at his home, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 28th, 2025. "Big Nick" as he was affectionately known by many of his friends and family was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on February 15th, 1952. He and his family moved to East Tennessee in his childhood years bringing with him a love of Alabama football to the Volunteer State which made him all the more unique. His father, Nicholas S. Davenport, III, a Major in the United States Army during WWII, and mother, Ida Maye Harrison, preceded him in death as well as his younger brother, James Howard Davenport ("Jim"), and sister, Ann Davenport. He is survived by Acoya Davenport (Wife of 50 years), Nicholas S. Davenport, V (Son), and wife, Bethany Aden (daughter-in-law); their two children: Nicholas S. Davenport, VI (grandson), and Adelei Leona Davenport (granddaughter); Stephanie Leigh Beckner (daughter), and her husband, David Beckner; Tammy Davis Davenport (widow of the late, Jim Davenport), Shyanna and Shaela Davenport (nieces). He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Mr. Danny Johns. Nick was exceptionally proud of his family and their accomplishments.

Big Nick established and operated "Nick's Market" convenience store for over 40 years. His work ethic and honesty in his dealings were pillars for the humble convenience store at the corner of Inman and Cumberland streets in Morristown, Tennessee. With the loving and faithful support of his wife, Acoya, they established a livelihood. Making many connections with local residents of the Morristown community, Nick valued his customers and would express appreciation to those that supported his business for so many years.

Known for his likable personality, kind heart, and unique sense of humor – Big Nick never met a stranger. In his adult years: he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching his children participate in local athletics and school functions. He trained and kept several bird hunting dogs through the years. After retirement in 2019, Nick enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, talking with friends, especially about College Football, and keeping current on America's economics and business headlines.

While Big Nick was a husband, loving father, and grandfather, as well as friend to many others; he was a Christian man above all else. Having been an attendee of Centenary Methodist Church for many years, Trinity Methodist Church, and in his final years, First Baptist Church, Nick often spoke of the importance of being reverent to Christ our Lord and Savior. Instilling that devotion and way of life to his Children, often, he would reference the tremendous presence of Christ, Philippians 2:10-11 "…every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

His wife, Acoya, and children, Nicholas V, and Stephanie leave you the reader with this comforting reminder in a tough world. For those of you that knew our "Big Nick", next time you are facing adversity, or a difficult situation, remember his genuine, lightheartedness, steadfast honesty, and Faith in God to lead you to better outcomes.

Much Love and Appreciation from the Davenport Family.
