Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home on Oct. 20, 2025.
It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Nicholas A. Dooley, affectionately known as Nick, who left us on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Nick will join his beloved predeceased wife, Cindy, in the great retirement community beyond. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering friendship.
Nick was a long-time employee of the Bristol County Court system, where he dedicated 38 years of service before retiring at the age of 60. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was unparalleled, and he was respected not just for his professional accomplishments, but for the genuine care he showed everyone he met.
For his circle of friends, Nick was more than just a companion-he was the hub that kept us all connected. Whenever a social event was being organized, it was almost a given that the conversation would wrap up with, "OK, I'll meet you at Nick's." A place where plans came to life and memories were made. The significance of Nick's role as our central point became even clearer during the Covid shutdown. After enduring long months of isolation and uncertainty, we were finally able to reunite-albeit carefully, following all the necessary protocols. There was no question about where we would get together again, but on Nick's deck. The air might have been chilly, but the warmth of friendship, the sound of laughter, smiles and the simple joy of being together made it feel like home. Drinks were poured, stories were shared, and camaraderie blossomed in the crisp air. It was the company-and Nick's welcoming presence-that truly kept the chill at bay.
There were many great qualities that Nick possessed, but the one that stood out above all others was his gift for friendship, Nick was a GREAT FRIEND. Nick was the kind of friend everyone hopes to have reliable, generous, and selfless. Whether you needed help installing a mailbox, moving something heavy, advice during a tough time, or were simply short a few dollars, Nick was always there. Even in the most challenging circumstances, his support never wavered.
If you asked Nick for a referral-a mechanic, a tile shop, or anything else-just mentioning his name would earn you a warm smile and the assurance of good service. Nick's reputation for honesty and kindness preceded him wherever he or his friends went.
Nick's abilities were vast and varied, shaped by years of friendships and associations. Nick acquired many talents. He built his own house with his own hands, and he was an accomplished painter, both inside and out. If Nick was painting, you were assured a job well done. Later, with his good friend and mentor Manny Andrade, together they took on countless home improvement projects-decks, doors, roofs-executing each one with thoroughness and meticulous attention to detail. Meticulous you ask? Just look at his 1999 Toyota Tundra truck; it looks as if it just rolled off the assembly line, a testament to his care and precision.
Nick had a remarkable sense of humor, sometimes delivered with a witty, cutting remark under his breath-done with purpose for the desired effect to get the whole table laughing. When something truly amused Nick, his smile and gentle bounce as he silently laughed would light up the room.
Music was a lifelong passion for Nick. He was a devoted fan of blues, jazz, and rock, frequenting clubs such as Ryles, Regatta Bar, Scullers in Cambridge and the Living Room and Lupo's in Providence among many others. Providence. He also attended arena shows at Cape Cod Coliseum, Providence Civic Center, and Boston Garden whenever his favorite large acts performed. More recently, Nick enjoyed accompanying friends to local venues to hear live music, regardless of the genre.
In recent years, Nick and Cindy found a second home of sorts in Jupiter, Florida, with a residence at a wonderful place called; The Little Club; There, they quickly became close friends with other couples, hosting cocktail parties, perfecting the art of the "Old Fashioned," seeking out the best happy hour deals, and, of course, playing pickleball. Nick was even the Champion of a tournament at Little Club, "Yes, it's true" and he always enjoyed being greeted by others with "Hey Champ"-it brought him joy and laughter.
For Nick, the strongest bonds were those of family and friendship. These relationships meant the world to him, and that is why his absence is felt so deeply by those who loved him. His warmth, humor, and steadfast presence will be missed immensely.
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Nick Dooley. May his memory live on in every act of kindness, each shared laugh, and in the enduring spirit of friendship he so freely gave. Farewell, Nick. You will be missed beyond words.
Nick was the beloved husband of the late Cindy (Archambault) Dooley. He leaves behind his stepdaughter Stephanie King, his brother Joshua T. Dooley and wife Maria, his sister Liza Dooley, his stepsister Penny Marvel, his adored nephews; Colby and partner Becca Durocher, Dylan and Jacob, cousins; Joseph and Andrew Weintraub, along with many great friends.
