Nicholas Gambella Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Feb. 24, 2026.
Nicholas A. Gambella, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 27, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Nicholas lived a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and service to his community.

Raised in Brooklyn, Nicholas attended LaSalle Military Academy and continued his education at Columbia University. In 1969, he made the life-changing decision to move from Brooklyn to Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he planted roots and built not only a successful career but a lasting legacy.

An entrepreneur with remarkable vision and determination, Nicholas founded Wayne Manufacturing, Duplin Manufacturing, and Calypso Manufacturing, establishing sewing factories that became pillars of industry in eastern North Carolina. Through his leadership, he provided jobs and opportunity to countless families in the region, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and employees alike.

Nicholas was a devoted member of Saint Mary Catholic Church and an active member of the Golden Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro. He believed deeply in service to others and was involved in various coaching teams over the years, mentoring young athletes and sharing his steady guidance, encouragement, and love of teamwork.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the sanctuary of St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Above all, Nicholas was a family man. He shared nearly 60 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Maria Gambella. Together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and unwavering support. He is survived by his wife Maria; his son Nick Gambella (56) and daughter-in-law Edna Gambella (57) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; his granddaughter Katherine Gambella (32); and his grandsons Nicholas Gambella (20) and Andrew Gambella (18). He cherished each of them deeply and took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Nicholas' memory to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1603 Edgerton Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
