Nicholas Alexander Mellas

Nicholas Alexander Mellas passed away on November 16, 2023 in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 90. Nick was born in Lefkada, Greece on October 24, 1933 to Alexander and Mavreta Mellas as their third child. Nick was a child of the Great Depression, and World War II in Greece. Upon completing his high school education with honors in Greece, he immigrated to Uniontown, Pennsylvania to join his uncle and to study electrical engineering. Nick worked for US Steel to fund his education. After two years, he joined his brother in Youngstown, Ohio, where he married Georgia, and started a family. In Youngstown, he worked for Firestone Rubber, and the Gervis Brown Derby as a cook. In the early 70s he moved his family to Torrance, California where he operated a small business, and some small real estate ventures. Eventually, he moved his family to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he pursued real estate, and continued to work for the Gervis Brown Derby. He was no stranger to working long hours and working hard. May God bless his soul. Nicholas is survived by his wife Georgia, his sons Steve, Alex, Nick (Roxanne) and Pete (Vanessa), and his grandchildren Nicholas, Alexandra, Dominique, Zoe, and Niko. Services will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on November 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM, followed by the burial at the St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make a donation in Nicholas's Honor to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, or St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, AZ
