Nicholas Moraitis passed away peacefully Saturday night, July 30, 2022. He was born in Oakmont, Pennsylvania June 18, 1952 to Hercules and Artimas (Regas) Moraitis. He is survived by his son Matthew Moraitis, cousins, and close family friends. Nick graduated from Oakmont High School and was a star member of their wrestling team. He also graduated from Robert Morris University and was a proud member of Phi Sigma Kappa chapter of Gamma Hexaton. Nick's personality was as large as his heart and height. He was well known for his catchphrase, "Hey, I'm Nick Moraitis" and would introduce himself to anyone and everyone in a room. One of his passions was making a deal. Once when visiting a zoo with his son he stated, "I made a good deal I couldn't pass and left with two lamas", which was the start of their farmstead. Although with all of Nick's accomplishments he would admit his greatest achievement was his son Mathew, which completed his life. If you would ask Nick how are you? He would reply, "every day is a blessing." A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., in Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12 Washington Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A shining light has left us this week. The light of a man who lit up a room with his presence. A man whose smile reached beyond the three rivers of Pittsburgh. A man who loved everyone he met. Yes Nick our fraternity brother and dear friend , our "Nickster" took with him many gifts of patience, self awareness, pro-activeness and unselfish perseverance that resonated with all who knew him, loved him and met him. But in Nick´s passing he left us with a light so brilliant that it will always shine in each and everyone of us. The prayer which ends "May the Perpetual Light Shine Upon Us"...was meant for us that was in Nick´s life. No matter how short or long we were together Nick has cleared the path for all of us to shine brightly. Nick my brother you will always be our guiding light. We will miss you but you live on in our memories thoughts and prayers.
